Sort Colors is a game that's impossible to lose. Arrange colored tiles in columns, unlock more colors as you go, and explore the way that all of your colors play with each othern to create great palettes.
The palettes for this game were inspired by the colors curated by Haruyoshi Nagumo work in Swatch THIS.
This inspiration for this game comes from my love of quilting. I enjoy the process of designing a quilt, picking colors, learning the way the certain colors play and interact with others to create very beautiful compositions. My goal for this game was to abstract away the physical process of crafting and capture the feeling of playing with colors.
While testing this concept, I observed that sorting colors is fun for players of all ages. I intentionally designed the gameplay to avoid complicated mechanics and text as much as possible. This allows the game to be accessible for young players who haven't learned how to read, with the added benefit of being for adults who are maybe tired after a long day of reading too much. There is a joy in being organized. There is extra joy when the stakes of organization are approachable and explorative, like blocks in aesthetic color palettes.
We hope that this game is a calming activity to do on your phone, and that you are able to experience the world of color in a new way. Happy Sorting!
Love, Kara
